Abstract

Practicing and educating oneself about Art and Aesthetic pursuits not only contributes in creating innovative products and performances but, aids in expanding our horizon and shaping our disposition, satisfying our thirst for knowledge and establishing cross- cultural exchange, justifying our quest for a worthwhile human existence. Arts Education nurtures the holistic development of individuals allowing them to value their unique identity and realize their potential to the fullest through participation in varied forms of Arts. Current research and valuable contribution of Art's education programs across the globe indicate that from an early age children are known to benefit from a wide array of Art experiences fostering brain development, physical wellness, language acquisition, literacy and unique cultural identity. This eventually aids in instilling a spirit of connectivity and gregariousness, appreciation and value orientation, aesthetic sensibility and expression for hidden talent equipping them with the needed competencies to enhance their human potentialities to the fullest. Taking the above framework into consideration, the aim of my paper is to: Firstly, to highlight and discuss the objectives, role and importance of Arts Education in developing human potential among children. Secondly, to provide a comparative testimony of the extent to which countries across the globe have made an attempt to incorporate Art activities in their school curriculum (highlighting analysis of a few countries). Lastly, an attempt has been made to develop a proposal /guidelines for developing an Arts Education Program for the children of today.

Abstract

Quality of life has been one of the major areas of interest and attention seeking concern for researchers. There is no doubt that life is common to all but quality of life varies from individual to individual, irrespective of their age and background. However, we as researchers tend to group individuals matching on some aspect or the other, thus the quality of life of that particular group will be static and dynamic, this statement does not hold much weight. But yes, people having some of the common factors in some aspect of life would share some common quality of life that is for sure. Self Efficacy and Self Regulation are considered and proven as key determinants of quality of life and life satisfaction over the globe and across the ages, but independently. This may be a new and first attempt to examine their strength i.e. magnitude and the direction of relationship with quality of life in one study or altogether. Participants for the present study consisted of 120 school going adolescents, age ranging between 13-17 years, who were randomly selected from boarding schools of Solan District of Himachal Pradesh. A selection criterion of sample was age, socio-economic status, educational level and occupational status. WHO Quality of Life Scale, Self Regulation Questionnaire-Academics, and General Self Efficacy Scale were administered on the participants and Bivariate correlation technique of parametric statistics was applied on the raw scores obtained to draw the inference about the data. Results revealed that there is significant positive correlation among the variables i.e. QOL & GSE; QOL & SRQ, but QOL & SRQ are comparatively highly significantly positively correlated than QOL & GSE, however a distinctive result was revealed that GSE & SRQ-A are not significantly correlated.

Abstract

Affective dysregulation is a term used to describe severe and persistent inability to control one's mood states. Children with affective dysregulation have an impaired ability to filter and process the sensory information presented to them. Gender is an important variable that influences ones affective dysregulation, depression and hopelessness but remains an under researched topic. The present study intends to emphasize the role of gender differences on affective dysregulation, depression and hopelessness among adolescents. The sample of the study consisted of 100 undergraduate students (50 male and 50 females) from private colleges of Chandigarh. Affective Dysregulation Inventory, Zung Self-Rating Depression Inventory and Beck Hopelessness Scale were administered. The results indicate that significant gender differences on affective dysregulation were found, while depression and hopelessness were not found to have any significant impact on gender among adolescents.

Abstract

Every organisation seeks to optimise the performance of their human resources in order to increase the performance of their employees as well as the organisation. For this HRD policy including trainiin g and development, performance appraisal, rewards and recognition, organisation development and career planning play a significant role in managing and sustaining the organisation performance. The role of performance appraisal and constructive feedback help in enforcing the objective of the organisation. The application of self-efficacy in employees in organisational setting in relation to performance appraisal can help in setting and achieving more realistic targets for which there is dearth of a comprehensive review of literature. Keeping this in mind, the present research work was carried out with the purpose of assessing the effectiveness level of self efficacy and performance appraisal among employees of banks. The sample consisted of 100 bank employees, age ranging from 24 to 40 years drawn randomly from banks (Government and Private sector), from the tri-city (Chandigarh, Mohali & Panchkula). Results of the present investigation indicate that a significant difference was found on self-efficacy and performance appraisal among government and private bank employees, where private sector bank employees were found to be higher than their government sector counter parts on both self-efficacy and performance appraisal.

Abstract

Amalgamating three concepts of mettle under a singular umbrella, the present paper presents an explicit linkage between empowering stamina, adversity quotient, and resilient undertakings. Uplifted to a level of escalated supremacy as COVID-19 pandemic induces adverse circumstance never-before experienced by the student population; extending to spheres of physicality and bodily empowerment, emotional and psychological strength surrounding resilience, and capability to regulate self in the face of academic hindrances. Intricately formulating an association between the three arenas and techniques and strategies, infused with their pragmatic appeal, the present research assists in enabling the development of adversity quotient and resilient levels via the utilization of the tool of empowerment.

Abstract

The study aimed to assess the effects of gender on spirituality and gratitude among college students. “Gratitude is a positively balanced emotion that can rise when another person a benefactor- does something kindfor the self (Algoe 2016)”. “Spirituality represents the specialization and detachment of_profundityfrom everyday life into a disembodied, disconnected, symbolic realm that becomes compensatory/or an everyday life where immanence is banality (John Landau)”. The present study attempts to assess the effect of gender on spirituality and gratitude among 100 college students (adolescents). The sample was divided into two groups, i.e., 50 males and 50 females randomly selected from different colleges of Chandigarh. T-test was used to study the significance of difference between males and females on spirituality and gratitude. Results indicated that gender had no effect on both spirituality and gratitude among college students.

Abstract

COVID-19 was declared a pandemic worldwide and many people suffered through various physical, mental, sociological, and psychological problems. Even after returning back to normal, people have not been able to cope with the stress. Amidst all, students are also finding it difficult to adjust to the new normal, which has caused feelings of anxiety, fear, distress etc in them. Keeping this in mind, this paper highlights the two major stress-busting techniques I.e., mindfulness and emotion regulation that can be used in the classroom during the new normal to restore health and well-being. The paper discusses various activities of mindfulness like five minutes of meditation, and musical drawing (Silver et al., 2017). Etc along with emotional regulation techniques such as positive reframing, kindness chain, expressing feelings (O'Neal et al., 2019) etc.

Abstract

This paper is an exploration of the three major archetypes as given by Carl Jung, i.e., the hero, the anima/animus and the shadow archetype (Jung, 1919). According to Jung, in order to attain individuation archetypes such as Persona, Anima, Animus, and Shadow play a pivotal role (Jung, 1969). The collective unconscious of a person consists of all the archetypes, while some are significant, others like the shadow, which represent the darkness in a person are usually concealed, yet never disposed, often being visible at times when a person's emotions are heightened (Jung, 1959). Against this backdrop the aim of this paper is to highlight and discuss the presence of the hero, anima/animus and shadow archetype in Heathcliff and Catherine, the protagonists of Emily Brontë's wuthering heights, while simultaneously noting the idea of feminism that was put forward in the gothic romance novel.

Abstract

The age group of 10-19 years which is between the stages of childhood and adulthood can be understood as that of adolescence. This stage includes biological growth as well as crucial social role shifts. The objective for this paper was to study the effect of gender on self-regulation which is to manage and monitor one's energy states as well as the effect of gender on quality of life which can be understood as an individual's perception of their position in life. This research focuses on college students from 17-19 years. This research involved 100 students from Delhi NCR region which were 50 male and 50 female. This research revealed that male have comparatively lower self regulation in comparison to female counterparts.

Abstract

After facing the pandemic for more than two years, the world has become a place of physical, emotional, mental and social turmoil. No one could imagine that Covid-19 will affect the whole world and people will be challenged emotionally. The pandemic has given lifetime emotional scars to many people even children couldn't escape from this when someone goes through this type of emotional trauma then one must recognize the techniques and strategies of emotional resilience to cope up with a such crisis. Emotional resilience is being able to bounce back from stress, challenge, tragedy, trauma or adversity. When children are resilient, they are braver, more curious, more adaptable, and more able to extend their reach into the world. Emotional resilient people are able to manage a range of their emotions, adjust well to transitions, show high tolerance for frustration, and can deal with or manage whatever situation they are facing. Keeping this in mind the aim of the present chapter is to highlight and discuss the various techniques and strategies to empower school children emotionally through emotional resilience.

Abstract

Human bodies have similar structural compositions. Everyone has the same pair of eyes, ears, and limbs along with one brain and heart. However, the reaction to the same stimulus varies from individual to individual. This can be observed from the unfortunate, but white swan event the Breakout of the Global COVID-19 Pandemic that halted the lives of people from each and every section of society, irrespective of sex, age or other factors. One of the key sectors adversely affected by the pandemic is the education sector. The swift transition to online mode of learning has been a major leap in the training methodology, leaving both teachers and students in dilemma of how to adapt to the new normal. The unprecedented pandemic is an eye-opener for the need to build resilience among learners for strengthening the evolving mode of education. The paper will analyze the concept of resilience, activities & exercises for developing resilience amongst school students aged between 6 to 14 years of age.
